The IAAA STEAM Team is proud to announce Nick Stevens as The Space Artist of the Quarter for March 2026.
ARTIST BIO
I joined the IAAA after David Hardy found my work online, and suggested that I apply. I was aware of his work, and was extremely proud! I studied astronomy at University, (I did not complete the course), and got involved with space related graphics from my first home computer, a ZX Spectrum. My main tool is Lightwave 3d, supported by additional software like Gaea for terrains, and Daz Studio for figures. Everything is digital. My most notable achievement is probably getting selected to provide the cover for the 2017 Calendar from Sky and Telescope. I specialize in unflown spaceflight concepts, and the space programs of the Soviet Union, particularly the crewed lunar program.
I am particularly proud that Alexei Leonov, (first man to walk in space, first in line for the Soviet moon landing, and an exceptional space artist himself), complimented me on the graphics I made for my book on the Soviet N1 moon rocket.
