Spacecraft Assembly 1955

This is a 3D print of one of my versions of the great spacecraft concepts of the 1950’s. I wanted to show it under construction. I also designed a gantry to add some context. The digital models of these served double duty in the comic frames and space cards I created, looking for that 50’s feel.

An award-winning artist and animator, Joel Hagen is a founding member of the IAAA. He is a MER collaborator, part of the Opportunity rover science operations team and has produced image products for the Opportunity, Phoenix and Pathfinder missions. A retired computer graphics instructor, Joel works with digital and traditional media as well as 3D printing and print surface treatments. Joel also designs extra-terrestrial life forms and biomes.
