Beta Lyrae

The view from a hypothetical planet in the binary star system of Beta Lyrae(also named Sheliak). One of the pair is losing mass to its companion star, which has formed an accretion disk from this transfer, with bipolar, jet-like features projecting perpendicular to the disk. Some material is lost in the plane of rotation, and forms an immense spiral of gas expanding out into surrounding space.
