CHANGING OF THE GAURD

From Kara Szathmary

Into our 18th year of our association, the IAAA is about to enter its fifth term. The BOARD hereby invites our membership at large to submit nominations and/or your application to be our next President, whose term is to begin July 1st 2000 and last four years until June 30th 2004. The Office of the President is for our leader who is the official voice of our society of artists. The new President will automatically be a member of the new Board according to our by-laws.

The Office of President is certainly a very demanding and dedicated one. However, our President will not be the sole party responsible for planning, decision making and administration. The President shall have the counsel of the Board, which is the official decision making body of our organization. This Board is there to serve and help our President set policy, strategy, make difficult decisions, manage the financial state of the organization, and to advise the President on how best to continue the blossoming of our association as the leading artists of the astronomical art genre.

In addition, nominations and/or applications are also OPEN for ALL seats on the new Board, whose term runs two years, beginning July 1st 2000 until June 30th 2002. There are 7 to 9 seats on the Board.

The Offices of Vice-President, one for North America and another for Europe, also has a term of two years, running concurrent with the new Board. Both VPs will be members of the Board. Applicants willing to serve as Vice-President need only to apply for a seat on the Board, but state in their application that they are ready to serve as VP.

All applicants are asked to include a brief summary of any organizational experience(s), at whatever level, of business, education or organization, to assist the Board in their review of the applications for our next administration. The current Board of our President, David A. Hardy, is preparing a mandate for the new President and his/her new Board.

Elections are OPEN from March 21, 2000 to April 21, 2000. Please submit your application for these positions to the Chairman of the Board or to our President (Dave Hardy). Or if you prefer snail mail, send your application to: Kara Szathmary, IAAA Chair, PO Box 203, Richford VT 05476 USA.

Thanks - Kara
