Jinx

Fans of Larry Niven’s Known Space will recognize this unusual world orbiting a superjovian gas giant in the Sirius A star system. Tidally locked, and pulled into an prolate spheroid by the gravitational pull of it’s primary, the ends of Jinx extend into vacuum, while at the equator, the atmospheric pressure is too great for human life(though the Bandersnatchi love it). There are two habitable bands between the poles and equator, colonized by humans who have adapted to the 1.78 G surface gravity. I plan on doing more illustrations of the more interesting corners of Known Space…
